Researchers at HollandPTC have three objectives: high-precision proton therapy, in which the radiotherapy is programmed to target a precise area based on scans of the tumour and in which the therapy can be adapted to the most recent information available on the tumour; biology-driven proton therapy, in which fundamental knowledge of the biological response of cancer cells to radiotherapy is the starting point for the optimization of the treatment; and value-based proton therapy, in which cost-effectiveness and added value for the patient are key.
All research is conducted in varying partnerships involving researchers from TU Delft, Erasmus MC, LUMC, industrial partners and national and international research institutions. Recently Amsterdam UMC and Antoni van Leeuwenhoek have joined this consortium.
