Pressure tank
This facility contains a jet flow that can be operated both at low pressure (0-1 bar) and at high pressure (1-16 bar). In this way the Reynolds number of the jet flow can be varied over a large range. The tank has a diameter of 1 meter and a height of 3 meters. It has several windows to provide optical access for laser-based diagnostics.
In the low-pressure regime a jet with a high Mach number and relatively low Reynolds number is created. This is of interest for the validation of DNS results for aeroacoustics.
In the high-pressure regime a jet with a very high Reynolds number can be established. This is of interest for studying jet flows at high Reynolds numbers.
This facility was built through an investment fund provided by FOM (http://www.fom.nl)
