Gianluca Grimaldi, MSc

I received a BSc and MSc degree in Physics from the University of Milano-Bicocca, Italy. As a PhD student in the optoelectronic material group I’m working on the development of efficient Cd- and Pb-free Quantum Dot (QD) solar cells.

I use ultrafast spectroscopy to screen Pb- and Cd-free material candidates, determining their behavior upon photoexcitation. I’m also exploring possible strategies to improve the efficiency of QD solar cells, in particular enhancing the Carrier Multiplication process via the use of QD heterostructures. In order to improve the stability of QD based devices, I’ll investigating the optoelectronic properties of QD-films infilled with metal oxides via Atomic Layer Deposition, characterizing the impact of the infilled material on carrier dynamic and film stability.
