Lukas Schulze Balhorn

About me

I obtained my B.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering and my M.Sc. in Energy Engineering at RWTH Aachen University. During my studies, I spent one academic year in California at UC Davis as a visiting student via the DAAD ISAP program. I am happy to be now part of TU Delft since 2021, where I investigate the potential of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in chemical engineering.

Project

As part of the PI Research Group my PhD project focusses on knowledge extraction, optimization, and machine learning in chemical engineering. To reach national and international climate goals a transformation of the chemical industry is needed. In our lab we use AI and automation to deliver new decision-making platforms for the chemical engineering field. Together with industry and academic partners we do fundamental and applied research on the mentioned topics.
