We screen complex communities for specialised genes and enzymes, and for metabolic tricks to grow biomass and store CO2
Our starting point are samples that we collect directly from nature, containing an unknown number of microbial populations. We develop the sequencing methods and build the computational tools that help analyse and explain how these natural communities work. Knowledge on collaboration and competition between microbial populations allows us to direct experiments where we screen these complex communities for specialised genes and enzymes.
