100 DAYS OF... Students Taking Responbility | Journal Club | 01 October | Teaching Lab

For this Journal Club, we will discuss a systematic review by Stenalt & Lassesen (2022) which unpacks the relationships between agency and learning in higher education contexts.

What are the links between student agency and student responsibility? Does student agency benefit student learning? And how does this connect and resonate with what we observe at TU Delft? In our journal club series, we will explore and discuss papers on students’ responsibility for learning. Following a flipped-classroom approach, the participants read one article before the session and start an open discussion on the article with a moderator.

As student agency in higher education becomes an increasingly popular construct, the need to assess what we know of it and its value to teaching and learning increases. The core question we will address is: What does “student agency” mean, and how is it related to student responsibility and learning outcomes in Engineering Education?

Overview:
12:30-12:45 > Walk-in and lunch
12:45-13:30 > Discussing the article
13:30-14:00 > (optional) Informal discussion & networking
