On 10 September, the BK Talks 'In Conversation with Iwan Baan' takes place.
Join us for the first BK Talks of the academic year, featuring a conversation with renowned photographer Iwan Baan. This event will follow the opening of the Documenting Lalibela exhibition, where Baan’s work is displayed.
Iwan Baan, born in Alkmaar, Netherlands in 1975, is internationally recognized as one of the leading figures in architectural photography. His work is distinguished by a unique approach that goes beyond traditional architectural images, capturing the life and context surrounding buildings. Baan has documented everything from global megacities to remote, informal settlements, bringing a humanistic perspective to his work. His photography reveals the dynamic interaction between architecture, its environment, and the people who inhabit it.
During this BK Talks session, Baan will share insights into his creative process, discuss his experiences documenting the rock-hewn churches of Lalibela, and explore the broader themes of architecture, culture, and storytelling that permeate his work.
This is a unique opportunity to engage with one of the most influential photographers in the field of architecture and to learn how his images bring built environments to life. The event begins at 18.00, following the exhibition opening.
