Information Session: Surf Sharekit and Edusources as repository for digital educational resources
The education of TU Delft is becoming increasingly reliant on digital educational resources to facilitate our teaching. Such resources include (but are not limited to) lecture notes, open and non-open access books, handouts, papers, reports, videos, excercises, datasets and simulations. Moreover, during two years of remote teaching, the amount of content that was created by our teaching staff for education has increased dramatically. But with the creation and use of all this digital content, new challenges emerge:
- How and where do we sustainably store and archive this content?
- How do we make this content accessible for our students, but also for our fellow teachers?
- How do we retain version control of the content that we share when we make changes to it down the line?
As part of the Open Education Week 2023, The TU Delft Library is providing an information session on Surf Sharekit and Edusources as a potential learning object repository for TU Delft. The potential of this repository resulted from a research project of the TU Delft Library on potential platforms for hosting digital educational resources. The Library is currently taking on pilots projects from lecturers at our faculties that are looking for a place to host their digital educational resources.
We kindly invite TU Delft Lecturers and faculty education support staff to visit our information session on Surf Sharekit and Edusources. We will introduce the platform, show a basic workflow of uploading content and explain how you can get involved through a pilot project. We are also happy to receive any feedback on the platform that you might have, following the presentation.

Background Open Education Week
Open Education Week is an annual celebration of the people and activities that apply open practices to education around the world.
Every year since 2012, events, activities, and challenges are held at schools, colleges, universities, libraries, and organisations by communities of teachers, librarians, students, policymakers, technologists, activists and enthusiasts. They spend one week in early March sharing, discussing and celebrating their contributions to Open Education, and encouraging more engagement and creation.
This Open Education Week 2023 (March 6-10) you can show the world how we are making a difference to education.
There are two ways to contribute to OE Week 2023. You can contribute by sharing the details of the Activities you are hosting during Open Education Week and you can contribute by sharing the Open Assets or resources you have created (this automatically adds them to the OE Week Library).
