That is what Tom Burdyny, recipient of an ERC Starting Grant, wants to achieve. The method that might make this possible is called electrolysis, which creates new chemical bonds by application of electricity. Read more 17 August 2023 A digital twin of the entire EU electricity grid is within reach It is vital to the increase the reliability of the European electricity system. The electricity grid needs to be ready for a drastic increase of renewable energy and more resilient to future shocks (such as cyber-attacks). That is why 77 partners, from 15 European countries, have come together through the TwinEU consortium project to create a digital twin of the entire European electricity grid. TU Delft is one of the prominent partners within this project and is very excited to have won the grand proposal together with all the leading stakeholders. Read more 17 July 2023 TU Delft launches online course Sustainable Building with Timber “The way we construct our buildings needs to change.” says Arjan van Timmeren professor of Environmental Technology & Design at TU Delft. Over 35% of our global greenhouse gas emissions are attributable to the built environment. A third of that amount is specifically related to the production of abiotic (non-renewable) materials such as concrete, metals and plastics. The associated challenges are not only climate related, but also concern resource scarcity, health and housing provision. Read more 11 July 2023 Dutch Research Agenda honours two TU Delft consortia Nineteen consortia receive funding to work on scientific and societal breakthroughs. Of these, two NWA-ORC awards go to TU Delft scientists. Active collaboration between different research disciplines, different knowledge institutions and with public sectors and industry are at the core of the projects.
