Dr. Y. (Yufei) Yuan
Profile
Yufei Yuan is a researcher at the department of Transport and Planning. After receiving his M.Sc. degree in transport and planning from Delft University of Technology in 2008, he joined the department of Transport & Planning as a PhD candidate. He defended his thesis, titled ‘Lagrangian Multi-class Traffic state estimation’ in March 2013.
During the past years, his research interest lies with traffic flow theory and simulation, data mining and processing, traffic state estimation and prediction, traffic management and analysis under evacuations, intelligent transportation systems in general for “fast” vehicular traffic. His focus now is extending to “active traffic”, including pedestrian and bicyclist flows, covering from modelling underpinning to simulation implementation. He is dedicated to develop a multi-scale simulation platform for slow modes, under the scope of the ALLEGRO project.

Yufei Yuan is a tenured researcher at Delft University of Technology in the Netherlands. He received his M.Sc. degree in transport and planning in 2008 and the Ph.D. in 2013, respectively, both from Delft University of Technology. During the past years, his research interest lies with traffic flow theory and simulation, data mining and processing, traffic state estimation and prediction, traffic management and analysis under evacuations, intelligent transportation systems in general for “fast” vehicular traffic. His focus now is extending to “slow/active traffic”, including pedestrian, bicyclist and micro-mobility flows, covering data collection, behavioral interpretation, modelling underpinning, simulation implementation, and data-driven applications.
