F.W. Renting (Frank)

Frank W. Renting is a PhD Candidate at the Structural Engineering Department of Delft University of Technology. The focus of his research is on dynamic soil-structure interaction, specifically on non-linear interaction between the soil and an offshore monopile foundation for the offshore wind industry. His PhD is funded by TKI wind op zee, TU Delft and industry partners, Siemens, Fugro, DNV.

During his master Offshore and Dredging engineering he worked for three years as a work-student for Royal IHC’s research department MTI Holland. His work was related to dynamic simulations of vertical transport systems for deep sea mining applications. In 2013 he graduated as offshore engineer on dynamic simulations of pipelay operations.

Summary PhD-project: The effect of soil nonlinearity on the short-term and long-term dynamics of offshore monopiles
