Mission & vision

Technology plays an important role in the major social issues of today and tomorrow. TU Delft sees it as its social task to contribute to well-considered political decisions, improve policy-making and enrich public debate. It is therefore essential that our technological experts of today and the future know how to find their way to policymakers and administrators, and vice versa.

How do we get this done? By having an active presence in the dynamic heart of The Hague, the city where policy is formed and which is known as the international city of peace and justice. Here we act as a hub for knowledge exchange through research and education, actively seeking cooperation and encouraging co-creation with ministries, advisory bodies and international organizations. Together with our partners, we strive for better informed decision-making and more sustainable, safe and resilient societies.

TU Delft's initial presence began in 2016 with the establishment of the Engineering & Policy Analysis (EPA) master's program in The Hague and more recently with the new locations of Digicampus and YES!Delft in The Hague. In 2023, TU Delft opened its new branch TU Delft | Campus The Hague in the center of The Hague and “around the corner” from the current Lower House.

TU Delft | Campus The Hague, given the important role of technology in current transitions in the areas of climate, digitalization and security, focuses on three main themes: Climate & Energy, Digitalization and Safety & Security.

We approach these themes from an integration of education, research and societal impact.

Education: We aim to educate engineers who can think in systems, are aware of policy issues and focus on applying research and disseminating technical advice for a better society, such as in our Engineering & Policy Analysis (EPA) master's program.

Research: Our researchers conduct their research in close collaboration and co-creation with peers from other disciplines and with non-academic partners, such as policy makers, citizens, administrators and professionals, both nationally and internationally, such as our Climate Safety & Security Center in The Hague.

Impact: We provide a professional learning environment that facilitates interaction between knowledge from TU Delft and policy & administration, such as within our TU Delft | Academy for Public Professionals
