Transport
The key word for transport in the Netherlands is ‘options’. The public transport network is affordable, efficient and comprehensive. Bikes are even more affordable and efficient, and cyclists are supported with an infrastructure of bike lanes, and parking and maintenance facilities. Cars are also popular. It is certainly not the case, however, that ‘you have to have a car’. Quite the opposite. Very few people exclusively make use of a car to get around and many people don’t own or ever use a car, by choice, not necessity. There’s also much to be said for walking.
