Vision Team Wonen

"The housing crisis is actually an opportunity. The opportunity to create a sustainable and long-term healthy living environment."

The Netherlands is facing a housing crisis that has been going on for a long time. It is an example of a complex social problem related to climate adaptation, energy transition, circularity, industry, agriculture, infrastructure and nature.

To contribute to solving the housing crisis, TU Delft has established the "Housing Vision Team. Between January 2023 until April 2024 This team has collected the expertise of TU Delft researchers on this social problem and summarized it in a recommendation for the Minister of Housing and other stakeholders.

In our report, entitled Room for Living, we recommend an integrated approach to tackle the housing issue in conjunction with other transitions and present four coherent perspectives for action. These are concrete tools to show government, professionals and stakeholders what they can do to help overcome the housing shortage. To each of these perspectives we linked concrete advice.

Our vision of housing therefore contains above all a call to work with us. To build together, literally and figuratively. To the common image of how we want and will be able to live in our country in the future, and to the physical projects to give substance to this.
