“Eaten by the Internet” a book by Dr. Corinne Cath
On 31 October, the book “Eaten by the Internet” of Corinne Cath was launched. The book originates from Corinne’s PhD work and focuses on the power of Big Tech and the future of digital society.
Our world is eaten by the internet. Control over the internet equates to control over public discourse, economic activities, social cohesion, and politics. In this age of interconnectedness, the infrastructure of the internet has a central role in the political landscape.
In addition to addressing concerns related to data collection, platform governance, and predictive analysis, it is essential to shed light on internet infrastructure providers as a significant source of political influence.
Corinne Cath, post-doctoral researcher at TPM, will launch her book about the power of Big Tech and the future of the digital society, ‘Eaten by the Internet’ on 31 October. The discussion with the book’s authors and editor will make Internet infrastructure visible as a key force of political power and urge us to ask how can we ensure the Internet will sustain us, rather than consume us?
This edited book comes out of Corinne’s PhD work and includes fifteen chapters contributed by a global set of researchers, activists and tech experts.
