Heike Vallery has been awarded the Alexander von Humboldt Award

Heike Vallery, professor Human Motor Augmentation at the department of BioMechanical Engineering, has been awarded the Alexander von Humboldt Award. Vallery was nominated for Germany's most highly endowed research award by RWTH Aachen. This award, worth 5 million euros, also means that Vallery will receive an appointment at RWTH Aachen. However, Vallery will remain affiliated with TU Delft with a part-time appointment at the 3mE faculty.

Heike Vallery

Over the past 10 years at TU Delft, Vallery conducted highly successful research on robotic technology to support human gait and balance, leading to publications in prestigious scientific journals and also multiple products on the market, such as the RYSEN rehabilitation robot. The AvH award now enables her to continue and boost her research career at RWTH Aachen.

Humboldt Professorship

The Humboldt Professorship is financed by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research in Germany. It enables the holder to conduct forward-thinking, long-term research at universities and research institutions in Germany and makes a sustainable contribution to this country’s ability to compete internationally as a research hub.
