New Department Chair of Hydraulic Engineering

Professor Stefan Aarninkhof is the new Department Chair of Hydraulic Engineering as of 1 March 2020. He takes over the activities of professor Wim Uijttewaal, who has led the department for four years.

Stefan Aarninkhof is a professor of Coastal Engineering. He graduated at Delft University of Technology in 1996 and subsequently received a PhD here. He then left the university for more than 20 years to work for Deltares and subsequently Boskalis. He returned to Delft in 2016.
His main research interests are focused on the development of multi-disciplinary design guidance for marine infrastructure projects based on the concept of Building with Nature, to enable broad implementation of nature-based solutions in daily engineering and management practice.
