Paulien Herder moves from TPM to 3mE
Paulien Herder, professor of energy systems, is moving from the Technology, Policy and Management (TPM) faculty to the 3mE faculty starting 1 January 2019. In addition to her work as professor at TPM, Herder has already had a part-time position at 3mE since 1 January 2018 as programme manager for e-Refinery. This programme develops technology and systems for the sustainable production of raw materials and fuels from sustainable energy, and connects the faculties of AP, EEMCS, 3mE and TPM. From 1 January 2019 onwards, Herder will change her dual position into a full-time position at 3mE. Her main tasks will be to further develop the e-Refinery and further strengthen energy-related research and instruction at TU Delft, in the 4TU and (inter)national context.
‘3mE is a great faculty offering excellent opportunities and challenges, and I’m really looking forward to continuing my work for TU there. It concerns the e-Refinery programme and the broader energy transition, in which TU is playing a key role. I want to strengthen TU’s position, both nationally and internationally – a necessary and special task, and I’m glad to be able to play a part in it.
I have to be honest and admit that it was quite a difficult decision to completely leave the TPM faculty. I worked there with incredible pleasure and satisfaction for a long time, in different roles, and am proud of what we have achieved. I learned a great deal there as a Delft chemical engineer. Of course I will be using my TPM ideas in my 3mE position, and hope that this combination will further strengthen TU’s position in the energy transition.’
