Amir Zadpoor receives Vidi
This month, NWO awarded five researchers at TU Delft a Vidi grant worth 800,000 euros. From the 3mE faculty, Amir Zadpoor, professor of Biomaterials & Tissue Biomechanics at the Department of BioMechanical Engineering, was honoured with an award. His research focuses on the use of 3D printing to make orthopaedic implants that behave like clay. These implants can be moulded to take the shape of a patient’s bones, after which they harden into that shape (much like clay). The personalised shape of such implants will improve their fixation and hence their longevity as well.
The Netherlands Organisation for Scientific Research (NWO) awarded Vidi grants to 86 experienced researchers. The grant will enable them to develop their own, innovative line of research and set up their own research group in the coming five years. Read more about the five laureates from TU Delft here.
