The TC’s responsibility is to promote activities around information forensics and security. The TC has significant role in IEEE ICIP, ICASSP and W-IFS and IEEE Trans on IFS, which is the top journal in the field.

Prof. Georgios Smaragdakis, head of the Cybersecurity Section, was named Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) Distinguished Member for "Outstanding Scientific Contributions to Computing". The ACM Distinguished Member program recognizes each year "ACM members with at least fifteen years of professional experience who have made significant accomplishments or achieved a significant impact on the computing field".

Prof. Ahmad-Reza Sadeghi from TU Darmstadt, Germany visited TU Delft Cybersecurity group on November 30, 2022, the "International Computer Security Day" and gave a Cybersecurity Distinguished talk on Secure Federated Learning. Title: "Pushing the Frontiers of Federated Learning: From Security Applications to Mitigation of Poisoning Attack.”

In April 2021, Jelle Ursem, a Dutch hacker, found out that the login details of a power inventor manufacturer were only in plain text! A power inventor is a power electronic device that converges direct current (DC) to alternating current (AC) and is a critical part of solar panel installations. An investigation found that more than 40k power inventors of this manufacturer are already installed in the Netherlands.
