Jessamy Mol

Profile

Jessamy is a PhD student at the Environmental Fluid Mechanics section within the department of Hydraulic Engineering. At Leiden University she obtained a BSc degree in Physics and a BSc degree in Astronomy. Afterwards, she completed a MSc degree in Particle Physics at Lund University in Sweden. She worked as an IT Consultant before starting her PhD in 2022.

Research

Jessamy studies the transport by waves of marine litter such as plastic. She aims to determine the role of the coastal zone in trapping and releasing floating marine plastic. To do this she investigates the effect of the Earth’s rotation on the wave-driven transport in the coastal zone.
