Janina Gosseye is Professor of Building Ideologies. Her research is situated at the nexus of 20th century architectural and urban history on the one hand, and social and political history on the other. She has published extensively on this topic in international peer-reviewed journals and books. Her most recent books include: Urban Design in the 20th Century: A History (2021, with Tom Avermaete); Activism at Home: Architects Dwelling Between Politics, Aesthetics and Resistance (2021, with Isabelle Doucet); Speaking of Buildings: Oral History in Architectural Research (2019; with Naomi Stead and Deborah van der Plaat), Acculturating the Shopping Centre (2018; with Tom Avermaete) and Shopping Towns Europe 1945-1975: Commercial Collectivity and the Architecture of the Shopping Centre (2017; with Tom Avermaete).
Janina has previously held academic positions in Belgium, Australia and Switzerland. She is currently series editor of the ‘Bloomsbury Studies in Modern Architecture’ book series (with Tom Avermaete), a member of the European Science Foundation College of Expert Reviewers, Honorary Senior Fellow at the University of Queensland (Australia), and Honorary Member of the Australian Institute of Architects (AIA).

Dr. Amy Thomas is an Assistant Professor of architectural history. Her teaching and research centres on the relationship between political economy and the built environment with a particular interest on the architecture of work and organisations. Her forthcoming book with MIT Press focuses on the post-war development of the City of London (London’s financial district). In 2020 she was awarded a Veni grant from the Dutch Research Council (NWO) for a three-year project entitled Her Office: a historical analysis of the role of gender in the design of corporate buildings and interiors, 1950-present, which traces the connections between workplace inequality and design. Amy is an advocate for equality, diversity and inclusion in architectural education. She was on the management team of Delft Design for Values Institute 2018-2020, and is currently co-editing a book on the theme of values and pedagogy.
Amy has a PhD in the History of Architecture from the Bartlett School of Architecture, University College London (UCL). She held the position of Harper-Schmidt Postdoctoral Fellow in the Department of Art History at the University of Chicago 2015-2017.
