Biography
I am a post-doctoral researcher at AiTech, leading the project Designing for Human Rights in AI. My aim is to contribute to responsible and inclusive development of AI by bridging socio-technical gaps through a trans-disciplinary design process grounded in values embodied by human rights, empirical study of context, and direct involvement of societal stakeholders. I am also the author of the Data Crow Watch blog, in which I engage with the public on these topics.
My professional background and research interests span a number of disciplines, from signal processing, machine learning, and biomedical imaging to ethics of technology and design for values. I believe that the key to solving the complex challenges ahead is to cross the borders that traditionally separate technical and social disciplines in research, everyday practice, and education of future AI professionals.
