Cigre C4 international colloquium on Lightning in Power Systems hosted by Dutch Power System Protection Centre at TU Delft
From 7 – 9 October 2019 the Cigre C4 International Colloquium on Lightning and Power Systems took place at Delft University of Technology, Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Technical Mathematics and Computer Science. The colloquium was hosted by the Dutch Power System Protection Centre in collaboration with Delft University of Technology TenneT and Alliander, and chaired by Dr. Marjan Popov and Dr. Jeroen van Waes (TenneT).
Approximately 50 top researchers of the field of expertise from all over the world visited the colloquium. During these two days, apart from the keynote speech presented by prof. Mart van de Meijden, 15 papers and 4 tutorials were presented by distinguished experts from utilities, industry and academia. This Colloquium was conceived as a platform for engineers and researchers to exchange advanced knowledge and recent experience about lightning and lightning protection of power systems. Besides, participants were also introduced about the equipment and activities of the high voltage laboratory as well as undergoing reconstructions.
The International Colloquium on Lightning and Power Systems has become a well-established event on the CIGRE calendar. It aims to bring together CIGRE experts and young researchers from all parts of the world, to exchange knowledge, experience and information towards a better understanding of both the phenomena associated with lightning and the implementation of protective measures to minimize its impact on electric power systems.
