Vincent Vuik has been awarded the price of the Wadden Academy for his PhD thesis Building Safety with Nature. Salt Marshes for Flood Risk Reduction.
He has investigated how and how much vegetated foreshores can contribute to flood risk reduction. He has integrated knowledge from various disciplines, including hydraulic engineering and ecology.
We congratulate Vincent on behalf of the department. We are also glad that Vincent is currently continuing and extending this research line as part of the research program for the Houtribdijk.
