H2020 grant to develop a performance tool for RRI self-assessment
TPM researcher Emad Yaghmaei, as part of an EU consortium, managed to obtain 3 million euro Horizon2020 funding for a project proposal called SUPER_MoRRI. Public bodies, research institutes and ever more companies feel the need for better societal integration of research and innovation. But in practice it is often difficult how to measure to what extent policies and processes are socially responsible and which actions can be taken to improve Responsible Research and Innovation (RRI). In the newly granted H2020 project, TPM will develop a new set of indicators for RRI monitoring to help overcome this threshold.
Performance tool
”The performance tool will help stakeholders to measure and compare their own performance over time, and enables them to compare with their peers,” says Emad Yaghmaei. ”We will also develop a methodology to measure the added value created by implementing RRI for governmental organisations, research institutes and companies. It will make the societal, democratic, scientific and economic benefits measurable. In pilot sessions we will test assessment approaches with different users. This will result in an online self-assessment tool”.
This project builds upon and continues the recently concluded MoRRI project in which the first RRI monitoring system in Europe has been developed. The SUPER_MoRRI project will further enhance the research and innovation process , ensuring sustained data collection, curation, further assessment and refinement of the MoRRI indicators. SUPER_MoRRI involves 9 partner organisations and is coordinated by Fraunhofer ISI.
