The Urban Energy Institute is inviting TU Delft researchers - PhDs, Post Docs and Masters students - to share their work through posters and pitches.
There are three possible streams through which you can share your work.
-
1) Pitch Presentations Live at the Urban Energy Institute Symposium
November 21, 2023
We are inviting up to 10 outstanding PhD researchers, Post Docs and Masters students to pitch their research during the Urban Energy Institute symposium live on 21 November.
- You must be a current Post Doc, PhD researcher or Masters student (or have graduated in the last 6 months)
- You must be available to present your research live on 21 November at 15:00-16:15 at the Aula Congress Centre
- Pitches should be 3 minutes maximum
- You are encouraged to use your own slide deck template. There are no formal requirements. If you are looking for guidance, consider including the following topics in your pitch:
- A little bit about you as a researcher
- Your topic
- Interesting findings to-date
- Challenges and opportunities ahead
- Are you still not sure what to focus on? Consider this presentation by Dirma Jansen given on 29 March, 2021 about visualizing science research for inspiration.
- During the live session, the audience will be invited to vote on the most outstanding pitch.
- Interested in pitching? Sign up here before 5 November to let us know you are planning a pitch. We will inform you by 6 November if you have been selected/invited to pitch during the symposium.
- Your final pitch can be emailed to urbanenergy@tudelft.nl by 14 November end of day at the latest.
- Your pitch must be in PowerPoint format. To ensure optimal formatting, please do not use any obscure fonts.
For questions please email urbanenergy@tudelft.nl.
-
2) Recorded Pitch Presentation for the Urban Energy Institute Virtual Poster Pavilion
- Pitch presentations will be recorded in the TU Delft Library.
- The pitch should last a maximum 1.5 minutes and will be timed.
- Pitchers can qualify for 1 credit with your faculty graduate school under a 'learning on the job' activity.
- There is no template for a presentation as it should be an explanation of your poster, recorded as a "floating head" descriptor.
- Interested in pitching? Sign up here before 4 November to let us know you are planning a pitch.
- Your final pitch can be emailed to urbanenergy@tudelft.nl by 14 November end of day at the latest.
- You will be contacted after registration to plan and confirm your recording time.
-
3) Poster for the Urban Energy Institute Virtual Poster Pavilion
- PhD researchers and Post Docs are invited to submit a poster to be added to the Urban Energy Institute Virtual Poster Pavilion.
- Posters can introduce the topic and methods of your research. You may present ongoing or completed research results if this is relevant. The topic of the poster should connect to the themes of the Urban Energy Institute and the institute's mission to support a rapid, just and equitable transition to a carbon-free built environment. The themes include:
- Toward zero energy buildings & beyond
- Fast transition of the existing building stock
- Thermal urban energy
- Solar urban
- Smart monitoring, management and control
- Transforming cities
- Posters can only be submitted by PhDs and Post Docs affiliated with TU Delft.
- Posters must be submitted using this Microsoft PowerPoint template. The size is A0 (841 x 1188 mm)
- Are you planning to submit a poster? Register here by 5 November to let us know you're interested.
- Email your poster to urbanenergy@tudelft.nl in PDF format by 14 November end of day.
- Please name your PDF file in the following way: "family name-short title" (e.g. Smith-Thermal Urban Energy Systems).

Researchers at all stages of their Phd and Post Doc are encouraged to submit – whether you are just getting started or nearing the completion of your research. The goal is to provide PhDs and Post Docs with an opportunity to showcase research while connecting with colleagues working on similar topics in other departments and faculties.
