Prof.dr. Marcel de Puit

Associate Professor

After a position at Pfizer (Sandwich, UK) and Specs Compound Handling (Delft, NL) I went to work for the Netherlands Forensic Institute (NFI) as the Research Lead for Fingerprint Research in 2007. From 2015 I have been a part-time Associate Professor at the Delft University of Technology (TUDelft).

My research interests range from the synthesis and engineering of visualisation reagents for all sorts of forensic traces to the analysis of biological traces using new technologies.

Academic background

My experience in research started at the University of Glasgow (Scotland, UK) with a R&D traineeship as a part his BSc-studies, under the supervision of prof. P. J. Kocienski. After finishing the BSc-degree I took up a PhD position at the University of Leeds, UK, again under the supervision of prof. Kocienski. Since working at the NFI I have supervised several PhD students, have been the external examiner of PhD candidates all over the world and continuesly supervise BSc and MSc students. Together with NFI and TUDelft colleagues I have been involved in several international and national projects. I am an editor for Frontiers in Analytical Science and Forensic Sciences, review manscripts for Nature Sci. Rep., Analyst, Analytical Methods, Forensic Science International and Science and Justice.
