Process synthesis and design of intensified fluid separations

This project will be working on process synthesis and design of intensified fluid separations to investigate novel eco-efficient fluid separation technologies for the downstream processing of (bio)fuels and bio-based chemicals. Novel and systematic approaches for identifying opportunities and targets for thermal process intensification (PI) via PI matrix will be developed. This topic will contribute to make (bio)processes economically viable, by reducing the large costs (over 50%) of the separation and purification steps.
