Jan Implom
When tackling educational challenges, I like to look at the ‘big picture’. This is why I often use a lens of micro-, meso- and macro- aggregation levels.
Background
Jan Implom is learning developer at the Extension School, where much of his work focusses on open and online education. Jan has a background in Learning sciences, research in education and instructional design, and is especially interested in bridging the gap between educational practice and theory. He is well-versed in the existing literature on different learning theories, concepts such as epistemological agency and questions surrounding student motivation and how to enhance this. What Jan enjoys most is to find where insights from educational science and theory can strengthen and support educational practitioners, and vice versa.
As part of IDEE
It is also through his expertise in the field of educational science and research that Jan contributes to the IDEE theme Students taking responsibility for their learning process. What Jan likes most about IDEE is that it offers an opportunity to dive deeper into complex concepts such as student responsibility and, together with an interdisciplinary team of colleagues, investigate its meaning and the conditions that need to be in place to empower students to take more responsibility.
