TU Delft granted €500.000 for multi-level co-creation in education
The University is gearing up to increase its collaboration with both higher and vocational education in the region through the recently awarded City Deal Kennis Maken. Together with its partners the municipality of Delft, ROC Mondriaan (MBO), Inholland Hogeschool, and the Hague University of Applied Sciences, TU Delft will focus on societal challenges in Delft-West. This area is currently facing various complex, wicked problems that are related to health, sustainability and safety. For the next three years, students will get the chance to contribute to solving these societal challenges and train to become engineers who know how to make impact for a better society. Residents and local stakeholders can provide students with experiential learning, whereas students and educators can offer their expertise and attention in return. Essential is the element of co-creation, which requires reciprocity and equality, as well as the active involvement of students from all different learning levels. The goal is to take students out of their own bubble, and to offer them life instead of a lab or life-like simulation alone. Being able to work across boundaries – be it based on disciplines or educational level – is increasingly becoming a crucial skill for future professionals. For both students and educators, this will be the first time engaging in experiential and transdisciplinary learning. If you are interested in exploring a different form of education, working with local authentic challenges and across disciplines and learning levels, do not hesitate to reach out to project lead Saskia Postema (s.p.s.postema@tudelft.nl) or WIJStad Programme Manager Pieke Hoekstra (pieke.hoekstra@tudelft.nl)
