New generation 3ME engineers practice self-reflection | Linette Bossen

Technical, social, and personal skills are generally developed in courses, and recently 3ME students started practising self-reflection and writing a portfolio. Throughout this process, they are guided by pre-assigned mentors. Each mentor is responsible for guiding 10 to 12 students face to face. Discover what the positive side effects on students during the pandemic are when having mentor-and-mentor meetings.

StackOverflow in education: A cross-cohort gamified Q&A platform | Stefan Hugtenburg & Frank Mulder

Through a SURF grant for open and online education, Stefan and Frank are piloting the use of a gamified knowledge-sharing platform called StackOverflow. On this platform, students earn reputation by asking good questions and providing correct answers, incentivizing students to collaborate on the creation of a large cross-cohort knowledge base. Check out how could it help you in your Q&A sessions.

Free (online) workshops and courses for TU Delft lecturers | Danika Marquis

Whether you are teaching online or face-to-face: if you are designing a course, creating a video, looking for inspiration, planning assessment, or just trying to get Brightspace to work, Danika has a free training workshop for you. Have a look at how it could help you.

Study Climate: working towards student success | Stella van der Meulen, Ruth Kleczewski

The Study Climate Programme develops and sustains a climate in which students feel welcome, are supported in their development and can unlock their potential fully. See how it can contribute to your everyday interaction with students.

The TU Delft as a smart system to optimise student well-being | J. Derek Lomas, Willem van der Maden

With data gathered from community-led surveys and workshops, Derek and Willem aim to support components of well-being and enhance human flourishing actively. They will share their work and inform you about the current well-being of students. Join the discussion about their work and feel free to share your perspective.

Learn more about our e-health tool for students and PhD candidates | Janne de Kan

Gezondeboel is an online tool where students and PhD candidates can improve their mental well-being in a free, simple and anonymous way. Examples of programmes are Overactive and inattentive, Worrying, Sleep well, Coping with Stress. Check out to discover its benefits to your students and PhD candidates.

Teaching Apart Together | Abboy Verkuilen

There is so much overlap between the different courses at TU Delft. So why don’t we collaborate more to create a rich learning experience for students, where topic generic and domain-specific content goes hand in hand, where lecturers meet and learn from different approaches! Come together and teach apart!

Lively discussions online | Astrid van Laar

A language can be learned really well if you use it frequently. That is why Dutch classes with the Delftse Methode are devoted to having a conversation in Dutch. However, how do you get a dynamic online conversation started in which all your course members actively participate? Education Fellow Astrid van Laar will share her experiences from the past few months.

How to student 101? - A new way of creating contact with your students | Ericka Martin, Megan Segeren, Sybren Bootsma

Connecting with students can be difficult if the only form of communication with the students is through a screen. Calvin Rans and Julie Teuwen thought of ways to let the TA's for their course be more approachable and to show the freshman that their TA's are also just students. The result: a video newsletter series called "How to Student 101".

Online Teaching & Learning: lessons learned and long-term impact  I  Willem van Valkenburg

This session will explore the future of online teaching and learning post-COVID. The focus will be on how universities and academics made the rapid transition to online education in the first half of 2020, what they learned from that experience and how they have begun to forge new pathways in delivering education that will likely remain relevant in the post-pandemic era.

Improving scientific writing for students | Angeniet Kam

Supervising students who are writing a scientific text often takes much time and effort. To support lecturers in this, we developed materials and activities that you can refer your students to, so they can improve their writing: TU Write - Scientific writing, The Writing Centre and PhD writing coaching. In this demo, these materials and activities are explained in a little more detail and we'll show you where to find them.

Holograms in Education | Marcus Specht

Are you interested in enhancing your online classroom experience beyond what the traditional tools offer? What if we told you that you can use Holograms in your classrooms? Yes! The same holographic experience that sci-fi movies have touted for years is finally becoming a reality and you could be spearheading its adoption in TU Delft. To know more, join us in our virtual booth at the Education Day, 2020.

Guiding students to become engineers | Chris Verhoeven

As the TU Delft our role is to deliver Engineers to society. That means we have to equip our students with engineering skills. Education Fellow Chris Verhoeven is associate professor at EEMCS and is team leader at both the Robotics- and the Space Institute. Being very involved in interdisciplinary projects like Delphi-C3, JIP and NGR (Next Generation Robotics), and strongly believing in the value of these projects for our future Engineers, he is eager to hear your thoughts and ideas on this in this Virtual Expo!

PRIME

The Programme of Innovation in Mathematics Education (PRIME) is all about redesigning mathematics courses for engineers. As such it is part of the Interfaculty Teaching from the department of Applied Mathematics (DIAM) at TU Delft. The aim of this innovation is to redesign the current math courses for non-math students to a blended learning cycle design intended to: improve study results, improve connection between mathematics and engineering, increase students active participation and motivation. Courses are designed following the PRIME-cycle: prepare, participate, practice.
