Resilience of the new urban commons
Urban commons can contribute to community resilience in cities
TOPICS: CLIMATE
Urban commons are the shared material, immaterial or digital goods in an urban setting. According to Hess (Hess, 2008) many of the urban systems can be considered as commons such as public healthcare system, public transport system, urban public gardens, etc. Accordingly, urban commoning means collectively creating, using and managing the urban commons and multiple studies are indicating that urban commoning can potentially contribute to urban resilience. In this project we aim to review the existing literature on urban commoning and the way their contribution to urban resilience have been previously studied. Besides, bridging two fields of “governance of collective actions” and “urban resilience” will be investigated in this project.
