Dutch culture and language
From music festivals to Starbucks to football to film to fashion to food, what makes Delft hum is in many important ways international. You can enjoy it without a dictionary or a local guide. This is especially true now, in the 21st century, but Dutch culture has long been open to international influences.
Dutch culture is international, but still very Dutch. In a Delft cinema, a foreign film will be subtitled, not dubbed. You won’t hear Leonardo DiCaprio speaking Dutch. Elsewhere, however, you’ll still find many things that are very Dutch. For some of these, a dictionary or local guide would be valuable. A command of Dutch, would even be much better.
