TPM student Samantha Tanzer nominated for Best graduate TU Delft award

Samantha Tanzer has been chosen as best graduate of the academic year 2016-2017 by the faculty of TPM. This means she is now nominated for the Best graduate of the year-award of TU Delft. Samantha studied Industrial Ecology (IE), a joint master programme between Leiden University and TU Delft.

Samantha is the first student in the IE programme to graduate Summa Cum Laude. The title of her thesis was "Plant + Boom = Boat + Vroom. A comparative techno-economic and environmental assessment of marine biofuel production in Brazil and Scandinavia using residual lignocellulosic biomass an thermochemical conversion technologies". The MSc thesis committee was impressed by Samantha's work, which was consistently of high quality and demonstrated the ability to connect and identify synergies between different scientific fields. Samantha represents a new generation of students that, on the one hand, want to have a deep understanding of technologies, and on the other hand, want to understand the performance of technologies in the larger societal context. Samantha remains attached to TU Delft. She has recently started her PhD thesis on the topic of 'Negative emissions in the industrial sector'.
