As from academic year 2026, we aim to continue the MSc programme Applied Earth Sciences under a new name: Earth, Climate and Technology. The curriculum of the programme remains the same.
When applying for this programme in Studielink, you'll still have to enrol for Applied Earth Sciences. In case of the planned name change, after the start of the academic year in September 2026, all enrolments will be updated to the new name: Earth, Climate and Technology.
Programme related information for admission
Applicants are required to have a bachelor’s degree in physical science or engineering. All applicants must have sufficient prior knowledge in mathematics (at least 16 EC, including probability and statistics), physics, and programming at a level equivalent to an undergraduate engineering or science degree. A more detailed list of expected competencies is listed here.
In addition, it is recommended to have prior knowledge of Earth sciences. We offer the online course Geoscience: the Earth and its Resources for applicants without this knowledge.
Programming will be in Python, applicants lacking these computer programming skills are advised and/or may be requested to follow an online course before the start of the programme. Completion of the online course is the responsibility of the applicant.
We offer two short self-paced online courses for students that need to learn (or want to catch up on) Python and/or Probability and Statistics. Do you want (or need) to brush op your mathematics?
