The Dutch healthcare system faces major challenges. The combination of an aging population, staff shortages and the requirement of more accurate diagnostic tools necessitates a transition to ensure the sustainability and personalization of our healthcare services. Within the faculty of Mechanical Engineering, we are actively engaged in both fundamental and applied research aimed at addressing targeted and personalized medicine, point-of-care testing and rehabilitation.
Our research efforts are centered on the development of novel materials, methods, and technologies utilising advanced platforms such as in-silico, ex-vivo, and in-vitro approaches. These innovations play a crucial role in early diagnostics, prevention, and treatment across a spectrum of medical conditions. Furthermore, we are committed to exploring the future landscape of hospital operations and work dynamics.
Our ultimate objective is to elevate these innovative solutions to an advanced technology readiness level, thereby facilitating their implementation within the healthcare sector. Through collaboration with our clinical partners, we strive towards a shared goal of improving well-being for all.
