Gayane Vardoyan | Towards a Quantum Internet
24 NOVEMBER 2022
Quantum communication offers capabilities that are not achievable using classical means alone — applications include information-theoretic security, improved sensing, and distributed quantum computation. The road to a Quantum Internet, however, is encumbered by a number of daunting practical challenges, ranging from the development of suitable hardware platforms to that of efficient classical algorithms that will facilitate quantum networks. In this talk, I will provide an overview of quantum communication, discuss some of the challenges, and present two recent research studies of distributed quantum systems which nevertheless have connections in classical computer science. As time allows, I will conclude the talk by discussing my future research plans at TU Delft.
