Abstract: This work presents a dynamic model of a Vapour Compression Cycle (VCC) within the IRIS test facility. The model serves two main purposes: analyzing transients for system design and developing model-based control strategies for reference tracking and disturbance rejection. In the context of control strategy development, the model is used to design a controller that regulates the IRIS conditions, allowing the operating point of the centrifugal compressor  to follow a specified trajectory. The results demonstrate that the low-order dynamic model captures the qualitative trends of the system's thermodynamic variables and is well-suited for controller design.
