Op 20 december geeft Miguel Sotos de lezing 'On Calmo Editions' als onderdeel van The Berlage Sessions.

On Calmo Editions

Calmo Editions, founded by Miguel Sotos, is an independent publisher based in Madrid that specializes in art, architecture, and experimental publishing formats. They focus on carefully selecting and releasing a limited number of editions each year, employing a "paused editorial process" that allows for thorough development of each publication.

Calmo Editions has gained recognition for its interdisciplinary approach, merging architectural theory with artistic expression. Their publications often serve as platforms for exploring contemporary architectural issues and fostering discussions about the role of architecture in society. Sotos's background as an architect informs the editorial direction of Calmo Editions, ensuring that each publication combines aesthetic value with intellectual rigor. Some of their notable publications include Glenn Murcutt: Inside Simpson-Lee House and The Circle and the Center.

Through his work at Calmo Editions, Miguel Sotos explores the boundaries of architectural practice and publishing. His dual role as an architect and publisher allows him to investigate innovative design solutions while simultaneously contributing to architectural discourse through thoughtful publications. As he progresses in his career, Sotos aims to further integrate these two facets of his professional life, fostering a richer dialogue within the architectural community and beyond.

About the Berlage Sessions

The Berlage Sessions is a thematic seven-part seminar series focusing on scholarly research and critical approaches to the history and theory of architecture and urban design. This autumn's series, entitled "Post, Publish, or Perish‽" is exploring how architects engage with various publication forms to disseminate their ideas, promote theirs and others work, engage with broader societal design questions, and influence and establish discourse.
