Agendas for Society, Brazil-NL meeting on the Energy Transition

14 april 2022 14:00 t/m 17:15 | Zet in mijn agenda

The TU Delft and Brazil have a long tradition of collaboration in areas such as aviation technology & fuels, bio-based economy & fuels, and, to a lesser extent, carbon capture & storage. At this forum, which is part of TU Delft’s 180th Anniversary Programme on Speeding up the Energy Transition, the key players in the Dutch and Brazilian energy sectors will examine the latest energy transition developments in terms of technology, science and policy.

The transition to low-carbon energy systems is one of the most important global transformations impacting the energy sector differently in Brazil and Europe. Collaborating partners TU Delft and UNICAMP are keen to host a discussion on the key game changers in technology, science and societal implementation and how we can benefit from collaboration to achieve the best solutions. At this forum, the key Industry and academic players in the Dutch and Brazilian energy sectors focus on carbon capture & storage, renewable energy options including hydrogen and circular bio-based economy & fuels to identify the most needed steps to realise the transition.

Prof. Kornelis Blok, lead author of the IPCC WG 3, will introduce the meeting with a projection of the transition and messages of the latest report (March 2022). Industry players (including Shell, Hytron, Accenda, Atvos) will present their perceived challenges followed by reflections from Brazilian and Dutch academic leaders. The forum aims to produce a short joint statement summarizing the identified key challenges, game changers and next steps in which The Netherlands and Brazil can reinforce the energy transition. The event will be co-chaired by Prof. Paulien Herder, Dean of the Faculty of Applied Sciences and Director of the TU Delft Energy program and a representative of the Board of UNICAMP. Prof. Carlos Henrique de Brito Cruz will lead the final discussion on the key outcomes for the joint statement.
