Research on urban mobility aims to achieve a seamless integration of current and future transport services for urban areas. Active modes (pedestrian and bike traffic) are a prominent part, and researchers put a lot of effort in getting and analysing empirical data from various sites in ‘normal’ conditions as well as during special events that generate huge traffic flows (Sail Amsterdam, Kingsday).
Various large projects are conducted, including the ERC-Allegro project and a series of projects together with the Amsterdam Institute for Advanced Metropolitan Solutions (AMS).
