Annabelle van Beveren - Materials Against The Light

‘Materials Against The Light’ tells the story of material use for product design over the years. The story is told through time capsules, allowing the visitor to travel through the past, present and future. The past shows the consumer society in the 1970s. Product designs from the 70s are playful and colorful. The exhibition shows the designs and products from the 70s using brightly colored plastic household products from the collection of Henri Baudet. The present shows the consequences of this consumer society by showing products made from plastic waste. In the future, all kinds of sustainable materials and products are exhibited. This gives designers an overview of new sustainable options and therefore tools for shaping a sustainable future.
