Diversity & Inclusion Committee
Faculty of Technology, Policy & Management
TU Delft is strongly committed to becoming a university that pursues the highest standards of education and research based on values of diversity, equity and inclusion. A university that is inclusive for all, offers a rich and diverse work and study environment, provides equal opportunities and brings people together. Respecting and embracing individual differences is central for staff and students to flourish, feel at home, feel safe, and reach their full potential.
The goal of this team is twofold: (1) provide a platform for open dialogue within the faculty about equality, diversity and inclusion, with respect to the visible and non-visible differences among all staff and students and (2) act as a sounding board and monitor for D&I action plans, both on the faculty and university level.
Enable everyone to excel
By making our work environment and infrastructures more inclusive, we will make sure that everyone can realise their best potentials, independently of their personal situation. This will be highly beneficial to the excellence and reputation of our Faculty.Attract and keep talents
By providing extra support to some of our staff and students in need, and by valuing work fairly, we will make our Faculty more attractive to prospective staff and we will diminish the risk of having talented people leaving us. By increasing the representation of minorities at all levels, we will provide role models that students can identify with.Foster a long-term spirit of inclusiveness in the Faculty
By exposing our staff and students at all levels to information on the subject (e.g. guidelines, awareness tests, training), we will develop a long-term climate of inclusiveness, hence increasing our positive image nationally and internationally and reducing the need for ad-hoc last-minute measures in the long term.Meet the team
Nitesh Bharosa
Nitesh Bharosa is Professor of GovTech and Innovation and Faculty D&I officer. His passion is to co-create responsible digital solutions for the public sector, together with policy makers, scholars, companies and citizens. Three things drive him to help with advancing diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI). First: it is morally the right thing to do. Second: the university and the entire society can benefit from DEI, resulting in richer and more impactful research, education and valorisation. Third: we need all the talent in society to tackle the grand societal challenges of our time. Therefore, everyone should be empowered to contribute to their best of abilities. Aside from work he enjoys playing games with his daughter and powerlifting in the gym.
Caroline Bollen is a PhD candidate at the section Ethics & Philosophy of Technology. In her PhD project, she is researching how we can best understand empathy in a rapidly changing society, and how communication technologies can mediate this. In her work, Caroline has a specific focus on neurodiversity, as autistic expressions of empathy are systematically misunderstood and excluded from how the concept is understood and researched. As a member of the TPM DEI team, she hopes to contribute to a more fair and equal distribution of opportunities, challenges, and required effort in our research and education.
In her free time, she likes to write and produce songs (sometimes even about her research). She also enjoys nature, dancing, and anything creative.”

Janna van Grunsven
Janna van Grunsven is an Assistant Professor in the Ethics and Philosophy of Technology Section at the faculty of Technology, Policy, and Management. Her research focuses on diversity and inclusivity in technology development and engineering ethics education. In her NWO-Veni research, she is particularly concerned with how certain normative assumptions about what it means for minds and bodies to function ‘well’ and ‘normally’ translate into ableist design and technology.
In her free time Janna typically finds herself playing soccer or chess with her wildly energetic six-year-old boy, Kai, or planting flowers on her rooftop garden with her mellow color-living four-year old girl, Faye.
Jenny Lieu is an assistant Professor at the Organization & Governance Section of our faculty. She is motivated to contribute to making the world a better and more just place, one space at a time. This can be as simple as listening thoughtfully and respectfully with an intent to learn from stakeholders, students and others or more broadly promoting just climate solutions (technologies and practices) in communities and regions.
Jenny is a curious person that likes to try and understand complexity. She loves spending time with family and friends, has a deep appreciate for nature, and is a dog person.

Olivie Beek
Olivie Beek is HR advisor at TPM. Working on various HR topics, Olivie is also involved in several DEI initiatives at our faculty driven by the fact that it is important to create more awareness and attention among all staff members to the DEI topics. Especially in a diverse and international community like TU Delft and in a society with great challenges, we can all benefit greatly from this.
In her free time, Olivie likes to travel and spend time with her family and friends.
