Minors and electives
A minor consists of a coherent programme of courses worth 30 EC, which represents six months of study. There are some minors you can choose irrespective of the degree programme you are taking, and there are other minors that are meant for Bachelor's students of particular degree programmes only. Consult TU Delft's range of minors to see which minors you could take in your degree programme.
In respect of minors to which students from various programmes are admitted, TU Delft, Erasmus University Rotterdam and Leiden University have agreed to guarantee that in the month of May 30% of the spots will be available for each other's students. Check the websites of Leiden University and Erasmus University Rotterdam for the range of minors.
Please note that Rotterdam does not allow you to obtain more than 15 EC per year. Additional courses must be taken at other universities. Amsterdam offers a good alternative to econometrics or economics.
A minor can also enable you to progress to a Master's programme that might not otherwise match your Bachelor's programme. In addition to this, you might choose an interesting combination of modules from a different university in the Netherlands (one of the 4TU universities, for example) or abroad, and you can do more in-depth courses in the programme you are taking.
If you choose not to do any of the existing range of minors, you could apply to your programme's Board of Examiners for what is a called a ‘self-composed minor’. You will find the application form on minors.tudelft.nl under Individually composed minors.

Self-composed or Individual minors in Applied Sciences
You ask for advice from a lecturer or coordinator regarding the cohesion in and load of your combination of modules. Submit your choice to the Board of Examiners at least two months in advance using the designated ‘Request for approval of self-composed minor’ form, which you will find on minors.tudelft.nl under Individually composed minors.
