Profile

Research

My work is mainly focused on modelling of thermodynamics for use in the DARTS reservoir simulator. We are developing a library for advanced multiphase (non-)equilibrium thermodynamics calculations required for thermal-compositional-reactive simulation problems, in collaboration with Dr. Dan Nichita from the University of Pau in France. The aim of the simulation models is to gain a more thorough understanding of the interplay between physical phenomena in CO2-related subsurface processes.

Profile

I am a member of the DARTS reservoir simulation group led by Dr. Denis Voskov. Prior to starting my PhD at TU Delft, I was already familiar with the faculty of Civil Engineering and Geosciences, having completed my BSc in Applied Earth Sciences and a MSc degree in Petroleum Engineering. I had always been interested in contributing to a society that moves towards a more sustainable future and I believe that in our field of subsurface engineering, we can facilitate this in many ways. Whilst working on my MSc thesis, in which we extended the existing DARTS simulation framework to model gas hydrate formation and dissociation, I realised I was in a good place to do so. I got the chance to go to Norway to get familiar with the experiments carried out on hydrates in the University of Bergen, and even though this was still unfinished work, it was a good reason to join my group in my current role.
