D. (Direnc) Atmaca

Profile

Direnc Atmaca is a PhD candidate who possesses a broad background covering nonlinear control theory, estimation theory, automatic flight control systems, space and aerial robotics, orbital mechanics, and low-thrust orbit control.

Currently, as part of the Flying-V Flight Control project, he focuses on designing flight control systems that aim to enhance handling qualities while making sure that the aircraft is tolerant against structural damages, actuator faults, and sensor failures. He does this by utilizing nonlinear and adaptive control approaches that center around Incremental Nonlinear Dynamic Inversion (INDI).

In addition, to assess the handling qualities of the Flying-V, he conducts piloted simulator tests in the SIMONA Research Simulator here at the Delft University of Technology.
