Profile
Chujie Lu is a Postdoctoral Researcher with the Faculty of Architecture and the Built Environment at TU Delft, the Netherlands. He concentrates on implementing advanced artificial intelligence and data science within practical applications in the building industry to achieve sustainable development goals. Currently, he is developing automatic fault diagnosis systems for the Brains4Buildings project sponsored by the Dutch grant program for Mission-Driven Research, Development and Innovation (MOOI).
Before joining TU Delft, Chujie obtained his Ph.D. in Computer Science at Guangdong University of Technology, China, in 2023. His doctoral dissertation was titled "Intelligent Computing Techniques for Energy Efficiency in Occupant-centric Buildings" under the supervision of Prof. Jianguo Ma, IEEE Fellow. During his Ph.D. study, he was a visiting scholar at Carleton University, Canada, and Umea University, Sweden. He obtained his Bachelor's degree in Building Environment and Energy Engineering in 2018, honored as an outstanding graduate of Hunan Province, China.
Chujie is a (co)author of more than ten academic publications, including an ESI Highly Cited Paper recognized by Web of Science. He also holds a Chinese Patent for intelligent indoor thermal environment control and is applying for multiple patents in China and the US. He serves as a reviewer for several prominent academic journals, e.g., Energy and Buildings, Building Simulation, Journal of Building Engineering, Engineering Applications of Computational Fluid Mechanics, Engineering Applications of Artificial Intelligence, Clustering Computing, Scientific Reports, etc. He also serves as a scientific committee member for multiple international academic conferences, e.g., RoomVent 2024 in Stockholm and IBPC 2024 in Toronto.
Chujie takes part in the development of online courses in Buildings as Sustainable Energy Systems program at TU Delft, including “Efficient HVAC Systems” and “Comfort and Health in Buildings”. Furthermore, Chujie serves as a (co)supervisor for several PhD and Master students across diverse disciplines, such as architectural engineering, industrial ecology, and computer engineering, providing guidance from various perspectives in achieving smart and sustainable buildings.
