New insights about the balance organ in Nature Communications

Patrick Forbes, post-doc research-fellow at the Department of BioMechanical Engineering and the Erasmus MC, together with colleagues from Johns Hopkins University and the University of British Columbia, published new findings about the balance organ (the vestibular system) in Nature Communications. The research characterizes the activity of vestibular neurons in monkeys during galvanic vestibular stimulation (GVS) and motion to reveal the neural substrate underpinning GVS-evoked perceptual, ocular and postural responses.

TU Delft and TNO open Dutch Ocean Technology Centre (DOTC)

On Thursday 6 June, TU Delft and TNO will launch the Dutch Ocean Technology Centre (DOTC). Driven by the energy transition in the maritime and offshore sector, this centre pools manpower, knowledge and infrastructure to increase the efficiency of the approach to mission-driven research in the maritime sector. In this initiative, TU Delft and TNO aim to accelerate the implementation of sustainable shipping.

The paper "Distributed Multi-Robot Formation Splitting and Merging in Dynamic Environments", by Hai Zhu, Jelle Juhl, Laura Ferranti, Javier Alonso-Mora has won the IEEE ICRA Best Paper Award on Multi-Robot Systems during the IEEE International Conference on Robotics and Automation, the robotics flagship conference celebrated in Montreal in May 2019.
