Selection procedure
There is a cap (numerus clausus) on the number of students on the Nanobiology degree programme. The 150 available spots on the Nanobiology degree programme are allocated via a selection procedure.
The selection process can be challenging, especially during the period when you are also taking your final exams. Make sure to prepare well when making a choice for a study and when you want to enroll.

Questionnaire
After the application deadline, all candidates will receive a message with a link to the questionnaire and information on how to get started. In the questionnaire, we will ask for your school grades, additional skills, and motivation, among other things. At the end of the questionnaire, you will be asked to perform several exercises and checks to prepare for the exam, familiarizing yourself with online proctoring and its requirements.
You will have 2 weeks to complete and submit the questionnaire. Completing the questionnaire in full and on time is mandatory to participate in the rest of the selection procedure and ultimately receive a final ranking number in April. If you fail to complete and submit the questionnaire in full and on time, your selection procedure will unfortunately end. Pay close attention to all the deadlines, which will be clearly communicated.
Selection Exam and preparations
If the questionnaire is completed and submitted in full and on time, you will receive a notification from us to proceed with the selection procedure by taking the selection exam.
-
Once you start the questionnaire on the platform where it is provided, you can find the study material there, which serves as preparation for the selection exam. You will have access to this material from the start of the selection process.
The exercises and checks at the end of the questionnaire also serve as preparation for the exam. -
After completing the questionnaire, you will receive detailed information about taking the selection exam. This selection exam is an online proctored exam that lasts a maximum of 90 minutes and will take place on 21 February 2025.
The exam is based on provided study material. This material and the exam are designed to give you a good understanding of what Nanobiology entails and how physics and mathematics are used to understand complex biological questions.
The exam is a mandatory part of the selection procedure and must be completed to finalize the selection process and receive a ranking number in April.
Ranking and results
Based on the scores on the questionnaire and the results of the selection exam, a total ranking will be compiled. You will receive a message from Studielink on April 15, 2025, with your final ranking number for the selection.
If your ranking number grants you admission to the Nanobiology programme, Studielink will offer you a spot through a separate message. You must accept this spot within two weeks, otherwise, it will expire and you will no longer be able to claim it. Remember that you must meet all the admission requirements to complete your enrolment and to start the programme.
How can I prepare myself?
You cannot specifically prepare for the questionnaire. However, make sure to fill it out completely and accurately and pay attention to the deadline. For the selection exam, we recommend reviewing the study material. The entire selection procedure emphasizes your motivation and possessing the qualities required to become a successful nanobiologist.
